The game, which started on the courts of a YMCA in December 1891, has found its way to Larne.

Following on from the historic YMCA connection with basketball, Larne YMCA launched their Basketball Club in April 2023. Since then the team has developed and grown to 3 youth teams playing weekly in the Basketball Ireland League. With age groups of U12, U14 and U16 boys teams, they recently received their team kits,  sponsored by the local Curran Court Hotel and have really boosted the team’s spirits.

The U12 and U14 teams have shown heart week in week out despite the score lines and our U16s have really made a mark in the leagues by putting up competitive matches and are currently 4th in the league. We as a club look forward to finishing our first season before looking into next season where we hope to start an U18 team and develop our girls teams.
