We are recruiting volunteer mentors for our One2One Parent Mentoring Programme in the West Dublin area.
The YMCA in Ireland is a youth organisation that works with children, young people, families and the community.
The One2One Parent Mentoring Programme will enable trained parent mentors to support a parent through challenging times.
The One2One Parent Mentoring Programme requires a commitment from the volunteer mentor to meeting a parent at the YMCA in West Tallaght/ Celbridge for an hour one morning each week.
All Mentors must participate in preparatory training. This usually involves three morning training events held at the YMCA. The next Training events are planned to take place in late September 2023. Subject to Garda Vetting and a post training interview, mentors will be matched with a parent in October 2023. Parent mentors will receive regular support and supervision.
What Exactly is One2One Parent Mentoring?
One2One PARENT Mentoring is a listening based mentoring service run by YMCA Ireland which engages trained mentors to offer weekly, one-to-one support particularly to ‘vulnerable’ parents with children. One2One uses active listening and engagement to help young parents foster positive relationships with their children through role modelling, social support and opportunities to set goals and develop new skills. Our hope is that One2One PARENT Mentoring will enhance the supports already given through the YMCA PAKT (Parents and Kids Together Programme) and support in particular vulnerable and isolated parents living across the West Tallaght/ Celbridge area.
